A Study on the Classification of the Korean Polychaeta (¥°)


Abstract
The materials were collected by the authors from 19 localities (Gampo, Pohang, Guryong-po, Geoje-do, Seogwipo, Hoenggan-do, Namhae-do, Samchoenpo, Daeheugsan-do, Biinman, Yeonpyeong-do, Jagyag-do, Yeongjong-do, Palmi-do, Deogjeog-do, chungmu, No-do, Janggun-do, Bijin-do) in south Korea during the period from 1958 to 1971.
The results of the identification turned out to be 2 subspecies, 14 species, 11 genera and 7 families. Among them 10 species were found to be new to the Korean fauna: Halosydna brevisetosa, Lepidonotus elongatus, Lepidonotus helotypus, Lepidasthenia izukai, Glycera chirori, Glycera capitata, Sabellastarte zebuensis, Sabellastarte Sabellastarte japonica, Pseudoptamilla occelata and Arenicola brasiliensis.
Up to the present time, Polychaeta fauna in South Korea show 2 subspecies, 21 species, 18 genera and 10 families.
